About Clockworks

It is a level 80 super giant with about 62.6m HP. On level 80 players CW does around 2k+ damage (3k+ crit) at rage this increases to around 4k+ damage (6-7k crit). Actual damage taken depends on defense, and in the case of critical hits on random luck. If you are over the level of CW it will not do less damage to you unless you have more defense.

If you are under CW's level the critical hits will be significantly greater. (Around 4k-5k normal and it could hit over 10k rage)

This is the first Super Giant in the game, and for most people the only one they will be able to defeat.

To Enter

To enter the lair of Clockworks (CW) you will need a guild. CW can only be done once per guild and the guild leader needs to have done the CW quest receivable at level 70 from the Darken Mayor.

The guild leader can then choose to battle Clockworks by talking to the NPC Eshylop. All guild members near Eshylop will be teleported into the room when the guild leader chooses to enter.

Notes

  • You can only challenge Clockworks from channel 1 on any server.
  • The level of your Guilds decides the amount of players allowed into the room. (level 1 guild = 30 players)
  • You only have one hour to defeat CW.
  • If you fail to defeat CW you do not need to remake a guild to try again.
  • If some one else is in the CW room you must wait for them to finish.
  • If you succeed you must make a new guild to challenge Clockworks again.

In the cage

When you enter the CW room you will all land in more or less the same place and CW will be spawned in front of you.

Sometimes a little bit of HP appears to be missing, this is an HP bar bug, CW will always be spawned at full HP.

Clockworks Attacks

Stomp

Typical CW close range attack, if you spend most of the time under CW then this will perhaps be the only attack you see. It is a big area of effect. It's also the attack that can knockback you.

Cannon

Long range CW AoE attack. This tends to only fire when you run away from CW, and sometimes when you run to it. After targeting you and initiating this attack, you will get hit no matter how far away you get before the attack connects. Since it is an aoe anyone near you will also get hit.

Laser

This medium range attack has a small area of effect, however it does continuous damage in very big chunks. It can happily take 18k hp in 3 or 4 bite sized chunks if you don't pay attention. The laser will fire out from CW's head to a reasonable range then move inwards. People under CW are safe. (unless they get bad position lag :x)

The laser occasionally goes off as you run to CW when you start. I believe this is due to lag, but it rarely happens.

Sword

CW hits you with it's sword. I have seen this attack very few times. It appears to be AoE and do standard damage.

Notes

  • CW attacks can be blocked. CW attacks cannot miss.
  • Sneaker can be used on CW to stop it from moving if you are running away (for what kind of reason).
  • Satanology and Rooting will also work but aren't worth it due their low timers.
  • Holycross, Swordcross, Baraqijal Esna, Windfield, Electric Shock and Pain Dealer will work on CW.
  • Windfield does not help much, since it will reduce movement speed.
  • Stonehand (chance of stunning the monster), Ice Arrow and Ice Missle do not work anymore against CW.
  • Pulling also works on CW, it can be helpful during an invasion or just if you want to have some fun.

Tactics

  • At higher levels very small teams can happily take down Clockworks with no real problems.
  • With angel weapons, a reasonably well equipped pair of blades, a Blade and a YJ or even a Blade and a BJ can take CW down when teamed with an RM. (Though the Blade and BJ combo might need Upcut Stones).
  • Well equipped bow Jesters can take down CW with a Knight for Pain Dealer + RM buffs, from about lvl 95.
  • A Blade can start doing CW with reasonable equips at 95+ with just an RM.
  • However a powerful (very) well equipped Yoyo Jester can do CW with an RM earliest, potentially starting at lvl 90 or even earlier.
  • A level 110 blade equipped and built correctly could take down CW without even an RM.

Final Notes:

  • Use GB party skill when CW is about to die.
  • No one knows how FD (used to be FC) affects CW drops.
  • To speed up CW use link attack. (Make sure you have enough party points.)
  • The attacker with the greatest damage out-put over time should be the party lead so they can use link.
  • Ring Masters and random spectators in the room should be in the party and also select CW for added link attack damage.
  • Try to form the guild to do CW before you buy a party then you do not have to kick and annoy everyone who is grinding in the party you just bought.
  • Don't do CW before the 3-4 man team point for profit, unless you are on a new server with high CW equipment prices.
